Electrical Design Engineer will work with the Controls Engineering team to oversee project control drawing generation, as-built corrections, adhering to cGxP documentation standards and development of electrical design Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

This position requires office presence of 75% or more of working hours. There will be occasional site work required in the interest of problem-solving, project/sales meetings, training and other work as directed by PLC and cGxP Engineering Manager. The position will oversee project control drawing generation, as-built corrections, adhering to cGxP documentation standards and development of electrical design Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). This position is expected to meet financial goals of projects are met as related to control drawing generation.


  • Use and understand financial reports to ensure financial goals/responsibility designated by PLC and cGxp Controls Engineering Manager are met.

  • Develop relationships—internally and externally—to ensure financial goals can be met and have growth potential.

  • Understand project requirements to meet customer needs and financial goals of all projects.

  • Design and draw electrical and pneumatic diagrams for industrial machinery, consisting of single and three phase power schematic drawings, PLC and DDC I/O schematic drawings, electrical panel layout drawings, power supply and transformer load calculations, and air pneumatic schematic drawings

  • Use new technology and develop implementation to overall departmental offerings as a means to meet customer needs and as new revenue streams.

  • Proficiency with electrical circuits design.

  • Proficiency with computers and an aptitude for learning new software.

  • Proficiency with selection and design with electrical components that are commonly used in design process. These include, but are not limited to, analog transmitters, valve sizing, actuators, relays, Variable Frequency Drives.

  •  Proficiency in designing communication networks. These include, but are not limited to, Ethernet/IP (CIP/ODVA), Modbus, Bacnet and LON.

  •  Provide immediate design support for product design team.

  • General knowledge of database building and SQL.

  • Ensure GAMP/cGxP procedures and testing implementation is being adhered to.

  • Ensure departmental SOP is adhered to.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision to ensure deadlines are met.

  • Verify quality of work to ensure quality goals are met.

  • Collect and review direct and indirect reports time sheets.

  • Ensure corporate employee reviews are completed for direct and indirect reports are completed.

  • Ensure daily schedule is reported to administrative assistant.

  • Ensure Company Safety Policies are adhered to.

  • Work with Other Departmental Supervisors to ensure project details that are under their control are completed on time.

  • Attend project start and completion meeting as required to discuss:

    • Project scope​

    • Timelines

    • Lessons Learned

  • Attend weekly/monthly meetings as required to discuss:​

    • Project status​

    • Department status

  • Must have ability to contribute and prosper within a team-oriented environment.​

  • Develop and continuously improve electrical design SOP.


  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics and P&ID’s.

  • Ability to read financial reports.

  • Understanding of data center and facility infrastructure desirable.

  • Proven experience with SOLIDWORKS Electrical or CAD programming.

  • Knowledge of commercial HVAC systems.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mechanical and systems engineering.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Allen-Bradley PLC hardware and software engineering.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk Historian ME/SE, View ME/SE, AssetCentre, VantagePoint software and server-based engineering.
